MARY WILKIE ANTHONY
4 April 1933 – 4 February 2020
Mary Joyce Anthony [nee Wilkie] of Matawan, NJ was born 4 April 1933 at Valley Plantation, St. George, Barbados, West Indies. She passed away peacefully on 4 February 2020 at her daughter’s home, where she lived.
She was predeceased by her parents, James Noel and Mary Sybil Wilkie; her husband of 21 years, Edward E. Anthony, in 1982; and her brothers Douglas Wilkie and Ashley Wilkie.
She is survived by her brothers Noel Gray Wilkie [Hazel Anne] and George Anthony Wilkie [Annette]; her children: Lisa Mary Alston and Christopher Edward Anthony[Mare Akana], her grandchildren: William Edward, Chayce Emtage [Felicia Geran], John Elliott and David Everett Alston, and many nieces and nephews.
Following her marriage, she came to the US in 1960, becoming a citizen in 1966. She resided in Matawan where she was a homemaker, an active member of Trinity Episcopal Church, and volunteered at Bayshore Hospital.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the National Alliance on Mental Illness - naminj.org, honoring Mary’s lifelong battle with bi-polar disorder.
A funeral service will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church in Matawan on Saturday, February 8th at 11:00am.
The Burial Service will be private.
