Loyda Verdejo, 66, of Matawan, passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2017. Born in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, Loyda grew up and lived most of her life in Manhattan. A graduate of Pace University, she worked for many years as a medical secretary and worked at St. Luke’s Hospital, The Hospital for Special Surgery and the Rockefeller Group, all in Manhattan. It was in her beloved New York City that she met and married the love of her life, Rolando Verdejo. Together, they raised their family, then moved to New Jersey and lived in Sayreville, Hazlet and Matawan. A lover of the arts, Loyda had a fond appreciation of interior design, art work, as well as the performing arts, as she sang and danced in off-Broadway performances. Loyda is survived by her husband of 43 years, Rolando Verdejo. She is the beloved mother of William Matos, Michael Matos and wife Donna, Dennis Matos and wife Lisa and Whitney Williams and husband Brian. Loyda is the devoted grandmother of Julian, Ashlee and David Matos, Danielle Gorman, Ryan Matos, Brandon, Jaleigh and Adrian Matos and Maxwell Williams. Caring sister of Noemi, Raquel, Daniel, Myrna, Ruth, Effrain and David. Cherished aunt of many nieces and nephews and is survived by many cousins and friends.
Family and friends may visit Tuesday, July 25, 3-5 and 7-9pm at the Bedle Funeral Home, 212 Main Street, Matawan. A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday evening at 7:45pm. Private cremation will follow.
